Restoration story
Reupholstery of a carved armchair
A record from the workshop: stripping the old upholstery layers, checking the foundation, building up the filling, and covering it again — without hiding the carved wood.

The restoration began with a controlled stripping of the old cloth and filling, so the structure of the armchair was exposed. At that stage the seat, the back, and the joints can be checked before they are closed up again.
Once the foundation was ready, the upholstery was built in stages: a base, foams and filling, and only then the new cloth. Fitting around the carved arms and legs takes precise work, so the upholstery completes the wood instead of covering its detail.
The photographs show a historical Restorno job. Every piece is examined on its own, and the solution is decided only after a professional diagnosis.
